Vashti

Vashti and I have worked together for several years.

She is a premier ballet dancer for Twin Cites Ballet and has recently signed with United Ballet Theatre in Florida. She needed promotional material for her new career and audience.

So, she contacted me, and I was honored to help her with her new career!

The shoot was to be simple. A headshot on white and a movement shot against a dark, custom-built background.

The headshot was my standard: One that is inviting with facial expression but engages with the eyes. I coax this out of my talent—and believe me, it’s not natural….

The movement shot was really a collaboration between us.

Vashti described what she wanted, and we worked through serval poses until we got one that approached what she needed to impress her new company and audience.

Then I suggested a lean, a tilt of the head, an arch. And there it was. With her athletic ability, it was beautiful.

The light was simple.: Capture the form.
