….there was a person.  Who was obsessively passionate about photography.  It all started in high school, in a darkroom.  The images appeared in the pan of developer.  And the magic took hold.

The obsession persisted.  The fascination with light.  The nuance of expression.  The comradely with the talent.  The image.

Welcome to the new blog, website, and book here at Thomas McCartney Photography!

I am launching my new commercial portfolio on my website and in my printed book.   All brand new!  Over a year in the making.  This is a collaboration with many of my commercial clients.  Many of whom are now friends.

I did not do this alone!  Many thanks to all of the many, many great clients I collaborated with.  Scott Mullenberg Designs for the amazing album design and build. And  Wolf Prints for prints so expertly crafted.

But most of all I need to thank Selina Maitreya.  Selina has help me immensely to craft my vision, hone my skills, and develop the necessary vision and eye to deliver the imagery I have always dreamed of.  To build a portfolio that meets the standards of a professional market, you need a mentor that shares your vision but is critical in the most helpful way.  Shoot, critique, re-shoot!  Voilà!
