This is about my best friend Wim. And his alpacas. Actually, they are his and his wife’s, Becca. They have about 23. And this is a full-time job.
While it can get crazy and seems stressful for the animals, it is for their own good and must be done. Wim’s family truly loves these animals.
For this shoot, I was simply documenting the shearing of the animals. Something they have to do about every 12 months in the late spring. For this, they hire Bernie from South Dakota. She is an expert who started shearing many years ago. And she travels around the country doing this. Talk about an unusual job! But don’t look to hire her—no new clients, as she is “retired”.
It is truly a family affair. Sisters, kids, family! I love it….. Especially the noon time feed….
